Getting Started:

Once you have your device:

Once you have your @schools account information, boot up the device and create a local account following the linked instructions to connect to the school鈥檚 wireless network and install any required software.

Financial Considerations:

• There are no formal Victorian Government subsidies for purchasing school materials, including laptops. However, some local organisations occasionally support specific families with school materials, including student notebooks. For more information, refer to the Student Services Team (Flis.Marlowe@education.vic.gov.au).
• EHS has a limited number of loan Surface Pro devices available for students who forget their device, are between devices or have a broken device, or need a temporary device until they get their own. These loans are generally on a period-to-period basis through the library at the start of a lesson. There are also a few longer-term loan devices available to support parents working towards purchasing a device for their child.
• Used devices are acceptable if they meet the program criteria. If you have difficulties providing the required materials for the new school year, please contact the Student Services or your childs sub school.
• Parents are welcome to purchase devices that meet the program criteria from any retailer. However, they should consider the overall package, including machine specifications, insurance, and accessories. It鈥檚 important to ensure the retailer is based in Australia and has reputable reviews. Additionally, parents should check the delivery time, be aware of hidden costs such as taxes, delivery, and handling, and evaluate any insurance on offer and its costs.

Purchasing Options:

• Most retailers offer payment plans through third-party instalment companies or Layby options.
• Eltham High is not involved in purchasing or payment but recommends JB Hi-Fi Education for competitive offers.
• When choosing a retailer, consider factors like the overall package (including specifications, insurance, and accessories), retailer reputation, delivery time, and hidden costs.

Recommended Device:

• As a Microsoft Lighthouse School, Apple devices are not compatible. The recommended device is the Microsoft Surface Pro range, available in various specifications to suit individual student needs and usage patterns.
• Used or refurbished Surface Pro devices (models 10, 9, or 8) are also acceptable. Please note that we currently do not support ARM (Advanced RISC Machines) architecture.

Delivery timelines may vary depending on the chosen retailer. JB Hi-Fi Education typically delivers within 10 business days, but this might fluctuate around holidays.
